The organizations in Austin and surrounding areas listed below provide transportation services for non-driving seniors.  Their programs have been rapidly evolving during the COVID-19 crisis as they serve the most vulnerable population.

Please visit each site to learn the needs of each and how you might help seniors in your community.

Drive a Senior
Central Texas

For the safety of all, Drive A Senior Central Texas has placed a hold on all volunteer drives and group rides.   We will continue to assist clients with their essential medical rides using  our trained, paid drivers. We have also implemented a “Phone Buddy” and a “Senior Buddy” opportunity for phone calls, grocery shopping and errands for seniors.

Please visit DriveASenior.org/ctx/ to learn more or sign up.

Drive a Senior
North Central

Working from home, Drive A Senior-North Central Austin staff and volunteers are answering calls and providing medical rides for our most vulnerable seniors.  We have been calling every senior neighbor in our data base to check on them. We will continue to do this each week as long as necessary.

A donation from HEB enabled us to visit the Capital Area Food Bank and pick up 34 boxes of shelf-stable food. We delivered half to seniors who normally ride our van to the grocery store.  We will continue to deliver food as long as we have it available.

In all of our efforts, we are following all CDC and city guidelines and restrictions.

Drive a Senior
Northwest

We are still working to provide transportation for our client’s needs (dialysis, chemo/radiation treatments, etc.) as well as connecting them with grocery deliveries or shopping for them.  We are enrolling new clients at this time who have those critical needs only.

Please call our office to register and we will answer any questions you may have.

Please donate to help us cover the costs of running an emergency food bank for seniors.

Thank you for your generosity!

Senior Access

Seniors have been hit the hardest with this virus and have been advised to remain isolated from the general population. They still have needs! Shopping is hard to do and many seniors don’t use the internet.

We need your help! We’re looking for men and women (ages 18+) to volunteer as a Senior Buddy to help provide our seniors with the help they need.

Go to SeniorAccesstx.org to become a buddy for a Senior.
